Tommy Lee Jackson Jr.
Tommy Lee Jackson Jr. has a record of excellence in coaching at the age group, senior, Olympic, Paralympic, and master’s level, unmatched by any swimming coach in Georgia history. A long-time teacher in elementary and middle school and a professor at the university level, Tommy’s skills as an educator provided a strong foundation for his coaching success. He began his career as a head coach with the City of Atlanta Dolphins in 1989. Tommy’s swimmers have broken numerous Georgia, US age group, American, Pan American, and World records. He coached two Georgia Aquatic Hall of Fame inductees, Sabir Muhammad, a World Championship medalist, and Curtis Lovejoy, the greatest Paralympic swimmer of all time and 12-time world record holder, and one of the top Masters swimmers in the country, Marianne Countryman with 11 top national rankings. In 2016, Tommy served as Haiti’s head Olympic swimming coach. A leader in Georgia’s coaching community for decades, Tommy has been a pioneer and champion for diversity and inclusion in Georgia, across the nation, and around the world.
