Harvey Humphries
Harvey Humphries has been the gold standard for club and collegiate coaching in Georgia and the nation for 40 years.Harvey began his Georgia swimming career as a UGA swim team member, where he was a four-year letterman and co-captain. Harvey then began his remarkable coaching career. He served for 42 years as head coach of the Athens Bulldog Swim Club, coaching four Junior National champions and four Senior National champions. He also served 38 years as Assistant Coach and then Senior Associate Head Coach of UGA’s Men’s and Women’s Swimming with Head Coach Jack Bauerle. UGA’s swimmers had unprecedented success as teams and individuals during this time. During Harvey’s tenure, the Men’s team had 17 top ten NCAA finishes. The Women’s team had 29 top ten finishes and won 7 NCAA championships. Harvey coached over 20 Olympians and 100 All Americans. Bulldog distance swimmers coached by Harvey won 24 NCAA and 57 SEC titles. In 2021, the College Swim Coaches Association of America named Harvey as one of the top 100 swim coaches of the last 100 years.
