Kyle Miller is from Jesup, Georgia and attended the University of Florida. While at Florida, Miller was a team captain and earned 43 national medals during his collegiate swimming career. He represented the United States on the National Team and was an Olympic Trials Qualifier in 1980 and 1984. In 1983, Miller won gold on the 4x200m freestyle relay.
